School Council
Each member of the School Council has been elected through a democratic process, providing children with individual liberty to empower choices around their education. Article 12 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) says that children and young people should have a say in decisions that affect their lives. Ms Burke meets with our School Council each half-term, to discuss and act upon important whole school issues.
House Captains
Each year, 2 House Captains are elected to represent the 4 houses. They are voted for at the start of the academic year by a school-wide democratic process. Each of the potential candidates writes and delivers a speech explaining why they would like to be chosen as a House Captain to the whole school. Votes are then counted in each of the classes from Years 1 to 6. The House Captains collect house points each week, which everyone earns throughout the week; the winning team is announced in our Friday Celebration assembly!
Our House Captains organise a charity day in school during the summer term. In the spring term, they present their chosen charity to a group of adults, who choose which charity we will support that year.

Pupil Librarians
Librarians are made up of volunteers from Year 6. They volunteer to give up a lunch time to run the library. They keep the library neat and tidy and that all books are returned to the correct shelves. They also assist younger year groups with using the computer system to return and borrow books. An important part of their role is to collect ideas of new books requested by the children in school. Our librarians also act as Reading Champions, and spend lunchtimes reading with our younger children in the Infants. Mrs Reynolds works with the librarians, ensuring they celebrate reading as much as possible within our school.
Play Leaders
Our Play Leaders support our children during playtimes/ lunchtimes by suggesting and organising games. Part of their role is to be an anti-bullying ambassador. They work with Ms Joseph and Mrs Reynolds to ensure they know how to react if someone is on their own, or finding the playground a challenge.
