Maths

We follow White Rose for our maths curriculum.

Pupils will explore concepts using concrete materials, before progressing to pictorial and, finally, abstract (the CPA approach).

Children work collaboratively, in mixed ability groups, to support each other in mastering key concepts. Higher attaining pupils can quickly move onto ‘mastering’, while others have the opportunity to really grasp the learning.

In order to help you to support your child at home, White Rose has shared helpful information and resources to parents, which can be found here: https://whiteroseeducation.com/parent-pupil-resources/maths

Year 4 Multiplication Times Tables Check

Towards the end of Year 4, the children will take part in a test which checks their knowledge of times tables up to 12x12. You can support your children at home, by practising times tables with them and encouraging them to use their Times Table Rock Stars account.

KS2 Maths SATs test:

In May of each year, our Year 6s take part in SATs tests, which tests their knowledge of Years 3-6 maths topics. There are three tests in maths: Paper 1- Arithmetic; Paper 2&3 Reasoning.

You can support your child by ensuring they attend any booster sessions offered and supporting them in completing their home learning.

You can find sample KS2 SATs: Paper 1Paper 2Paper 3Mark scheme

Please do not use 2016-2024 KS2 SATs tests to help your children to prepare, as we use these to assess in school.
